Teaching Bible and World History Together: A Homeschool Timeline Guide

Many homeschool families teach Bible and history as separate subjects. A timeline brings them together: children see that Joseph lived in a real Egypt, that Daniel served real Babylonian and Persian kings, and that Jesus was born under Roman rule.

A simple weekly routine

  1. Read the week's Bible passage together.
  2. Find it: have your child locate the person or event on the wall chart.
  3. Look across: what else was happening in the world at that date?
  4. Narrate: your child retells the story and its place in history in their own words.

Activities by age

  • Ages 5–8: point to the pictures, Noah's ark, the Tower of Babel, and tell the story.
  • Ages 9–12: trace a family line from Noah to Abraham and on to David.
  • Teens: compare biblical events with Egyptian, Greek and Roman history and discuss how they connect.

Why a laminated wall chart

Children handle it, point at it and come back to it every week. Lamination means it wipes clean and lasts for years and for younger siblings. Our laminated Bible History Chart is 45 × 37 in, large enough to read from the table, and includes Scripture references and an index.
